Just a thought...I bought a starter from Ecklers, their "High Torque" mini starter, that fell apart on me last week...i thought it was my torque that made a bolt fall out, but soon found out that the head of the starter that bolts to the plate fell apart on its own...so, I used some thread sealer to put it back, which was crappy enough but I did it anyways, and soon found out that the starter ground down 2 of my teeth on my flywheel! So, because of Ecklers essentially I have a bad starter and flywheel now...I only drove 2,000 miles on my new engine and starter...so, should Ecklers reimburse me somehow? I'm gonna call Monday morning and b1tch at them, but do I not have a valid case?
It's called limited liability -- in other words, the written warranty effectively limits liability so all you get is a replacement starter. Damaged caused by the defective item is your problem...

And you want Ecklers to pay for it? Be happy if you get a new starter.
i had a spring co install a new set of leafs in my 73 and a few days later i noticed they broke the differential cover installing the spring,,,, when i called to complain they demanded to see the car .when i brought it there they looked at it and refused to pay for the proper repairs. i had to get a new differential cover & gasket and gear lube and my cousin installed it for me at his transmission shop.. (i paid him to install it) i got a written letter from him stating that the cover was broken by the spring co and took the spring company to small claims court.. after going there twice the judge ruled in favor of the spring co..she said (the judge)i couldnt prove beyond a reasonable doubt that they actually broke the cover...at least she(widow of the spring co) had to pay her lawyer and her shop foreman"s time in court... it wasnt worth the aggravation

What a defeatist attitude! For one Barney loves everybody.......well except the Patriots.
Joe Buck...off the subject but I just really gotta know. Is the blonde in your avatar doing, um, well is she, er...you know! Or is she just takin' a really pleasing dump?

Liability limit will only cover the starter, sense (Ecklers the re-seller) and the (MFG of the defective part) have no control over the install, their liability is limited to the part only.
I do feel your pain when a defective part is responsible for damage to a flywheel, a PITA to change out, but its one of the prices we pay when we work on the antique cars and become our own mechanics/shop.
Electrical parts should never be purchased any further than you can reasonably drive. Competition drives the prices down and when that happens quality normally suffers especially with electrical parts. Starters, generators and alternators become the worst victims of this problem.
Send it back with a letter, don't call. They will just send you a new one. Make sure to get a return receipt from the Post Office. Buy a better one through Summit/Jegs. Then sell the other on ebay when you get it in.
Are you sure you weren't kicking in the starter when you were passing all those ZO6's
