When I put a new system in my car (68) last summer I found the clearance between the pre-amp outputs at back of head unit and heater ducting was really tight. I found some cables (Soche?) with right angle connectors at one end which made a huge difference. Not sure if it's the same for your year or not, but maybe this tip helps.

Nice to see that you got a new faceplate with the DIN cutout. Be very careful installing it - the top portion will break very easily. Then you'll be like the rest of us who fit two pieces in carefully very time we have to pull the center out... There is a recent post here from a lady who had her interior redone - very nice! Anyway, she shows a nice CD changer case and rear speaker bar. Find that thread and see what you think...

It looks like you have the Vette Specialties DIN bezel, so you made a good move right there. It gives you an inch or so more room behind the radio and looks factory stock once you get everything all mounted up. Be prepared for some frustration routing RCA cables and speaker wire (if you are using a healthy guage). I rivited some rubber coated looms to my trans tunnel to route the wires. It keeps them protected and is totally invisible with the carpet in place. Also, mounting the speakers properly can be a pain...just be patient and don't compromise. If you compromise with crappy mounting methods or by downgrading to smaller speakers, you'll be sorry and be back changing things again. Just be patient, don't force things, work around obstacles....I am sure you'll be happy. Looks like you have some pretty nice equipment there, it's gotta sound better than stock!

Well the stereo is installed and kind of working, but we weren't able to find a suitable place to put the ground, so i figured i would just attach it to the battery ground... unless someone else has a better idea.

Also the car is still in pieces, my friend who came to help my had to leave last night before we could put it all back together, but i should be able to finish the rest by my self. It will also give me a little more time to make sure that everything is seated properly.

I'll post more progress pictures tonight for anyone who is interested.

Well i finally got everything installed... and it sounds awesome!

Alas this indevor was not with out casualties... so far i've lost a couple of screws, the speedometer is acting very weird and won't go past 40mph, and the fuel gage is reading at full even though i know its not.

Pictures are posted here:
http://homepage.mac.com/zymosan/PhotoAlbum10.html

and any advice on the speedometer and fuel gage is much appriciated!
