I went and bought one off e-bay.I've seen them on TV for $199.00 this wants 29.95.I figure what the He##.Are these accurate?Anybody bought one off e bay.Supposed to give HP figures,0-60 times 1/4 mile times.I didn't know all that info was stored in your cig. lighter scoket
I have one, and I don't think it is totally accurate, but it is consistant as long as you are on level ground, and do each run from the same place. Also depends on unit being mounted level in car. This will never replace a dyno or timeslips from the track, but it is kind of fun to play with while practicing launches before going to the track, tuning, or before and after mod times.
I've never had one, but heard plenty of new guys at the track, saying they'd run 13.x on their G-Toy, only to find a 14.x time-slip waiting for them at the ticket-booth.
Recently, somebody said (on another Forum) that his was accurate "with-in a few tenths", if that is close-enough for you.
I'd think it'd be handy to see if what changes you make are for the better, or worse (i.e.: testing), but I would'nt "brag" I'd got a 13-second car if the G-Tech says " 13.9xx ".....
There is a difference between the $29 one on eBAY and the $200 one. The more expensive unit has a screen on it that shows graphs and other setup screens. The cheaper one uses a single line display. I believe they use the same accelerometer and electronics though. I used one with my Vette and it gave me results very similar to the drag strip. The nice thing is it will also give braking distances and times. I used this when I went to the Hawk pads. The key as others have said is to get it setup properly. If you want good HP numbers, you need an accurate weight for your car.

Actually the Competition version with the screen/laptop ability is more than $200 (although maybe $200 on ebay). The standard g-tech is $140 retail I believe, $30ish on ebay.
