anybody got a trick to get header bolts on and off "easy". bolt heads are so close to the headers that you can only turn them about an eighth of a turn with an open end wrench before you have to reset the wrench. no room for a socket. bolts at firewall end are impossible.
anybody using internal hex head bolts? that seems like the way to go to me. any down side to them?

I don't have a problem with getting a wrench on mine. I use a 1/4 drive ratchet and a 3 inch extension with a 3/8 socket. Works good to tighten them on my headers. The one thing I do have a problem with is they back off all the time and need to be retightend after every long cruise. I guess I should invest in a set of those Stage 8 locking fasteners too.
Finished scaring up my knockles a few months back doing the same, just be sure to keep checking thier tightness once in a while, if you don't use the locking type.
Stage 8 worked for me after others failed. Fit them right the first time and never need to tighten again. After the bolts are torqued, you fit the lock against the header tube. Some grinding may be necessary for a good fit on the locks. No more blown gaskets from loose bolts.

buy a combination wrench and take the box end side to a grinder to thin out the metal this will then slip over the hex head and you will get a more full turn..........
