I don't know about acid rain, but I do know that it removes hard water stains...in fact it's the ONLY thing that removes them. My water is so hard it comes out of the hose gravelley...let it sit for 10 minutes in the sun and there are deposits around the perimeter of EVERY drop of water. Rain-X takes it right off.
Are you sure it is from acid rain? Old windshields always pit. I believe it is from dust and sand hitting the windshield at speed. There are product available that are designed to buff the window. Seems people have mixed results with them. It is probably best to just buy a new windshield though and save yourself the hours of buffing hoping to get good results. New windshields for our cars are around 150 plus install. Not bad deal at all....
It's not pitting in the glass but white stains. Car was from a northern state and was not parked under cover. Spots appear to be from rain drops drying on glass.
