Default Problem with hardtop

I have a 72 convertible that came with a hardtop, which needs some
work. Anyway it seems to fit the car fine except the windows on the
doors do not roll up far enough. There is about a 1/4 inch gap. I and
the body man working on my top do not have a clue why this has happened. If anyone knows anything about this please help. I really
want to get this top on my car.(FYI:The windows are fine with the softtop)

P.S. I have been trolling this forum for about a year and yall(I'm from the south) really know your stuff.

Thanks
Michael

Mine are tight to get up too
I roll them up first with the door open...
Then close the door to avoid strain on the mechanics

OK, my '72 same car, had the problem also, what you need do is take the door liners off, and get into the doors with the hard top on, and adjust the window stops up top inner ledge so the window stops against the hardtop correctly, may need play with the guides also, to align properly fore and aft, and laterally also....it's all adjustable, and should fit just right....

THEN take the hardtop off the car, and adjust well as possible, the soft top by doing the two bolts on each side, under the main hinge, hidden by carpeting, this adjusts the rake and height of the soft top, and you may need play with the deck pins also, as they depend on the hinge alignment for their positioning to function correctly....

hey it's only an afternoon's worth of work, maybe 2 six packs..

As Gene said. It is essential to line up the hardtop first THEN the softop. I am guessing that at some stage the soft top was replaced and thats why it is all lined up the way it is.
