Getting the paint to shine
I had some damage to a front fender repaired, and the insurance money paid to have the whole nose repainted and blended into the doors. It came out very nice, but it is very noticeable that the paint on the rear is much older and faded.
Any hints on reviving the old paint?

West sand with 1000 grit, then 2000, and finally 4000 grit paper, then polish in steps using 3M's Perfect It III system...all found at your friendly automotive paint supplier

You may be able to get away with the following:
Heavy cut Polish followed by
Fine Cut polish Followed by
Swirl mark remover or Color boosting polish
A good Teflon based wax and protectant.
Apply each product with an orbital buffer and polish When dry.
I recommend 3M or Mcquires products only.

Don't bother, Dennis.
By June 4th, the rear quarters should be covered in molten rubber, anyway.
Be careful polishing with a high speed buffer. It can cut through
the sharp body edges with ease. then you'll be painting the rear to match.
