Default Electric cutouts

I decided to sell my Hooker sidepipes ( just glad I never cut the car ) and go with a 3 in. undercar system with electric cutouts. I don't know anything about the electric cutouts so I am looking for anyone with experiences with them ( brand, price etc. ) and recommendations or comments. Thanks

I always wondered how well those things seal, esp over the long run. I am doing some long term planning on my formula and was think of some cut outs after the headers so I can retain the single 3" system that is on there now.

Looks like around $350US for a duals (QTC) including the dump pipe and all switches and wires. I just can't wait to open them up at a light beside a Honda

The F-body guys seem to love them. Try looking around at LS1Tech.com.

If went w/ the '69 side exhaust I would have went this route. I just don't like the idea of 2in ground clearance w/ long tubes on undercar exhaust. That's why I went w/ the hooker, sound, look, performace and ground clearance.

wayne..why did you decide not to go with the side exhaust? 75Rag was talking about sidepipes last year, maybe he would be interested in them.?
the electric cut outs would be cool..

Just a thought, If you go with the 3" and a low restriction muffler, would you really need cutouts? According to my dyno program, you may not gain much and could actually lose something. It would make a big differance with a restrictive system, but a good 3" on a street motor would be hard to beat.

I realize it's not for performance, my idea here, but....
why not a cut out located around the area just after the battery/storage boxes, and turn it 90* and out just b-4 the wheels..?? as in maybe nothing fancy, just a dash cable...

as in flip the cable, and floor it, to intimidate hell out of the opposition....then flip the lever again to placate the local cops???

snicker....

Default Hooker makes 'em

Here are a couple of sites:

Here's a post relating to them...

I couldn't find the Hooker cutouts, but I know they're around five bills. We had a girl from LA that used a set on her BOSS 302 at the Historic races two years ago. She uncorked them leaving the restaurant that we all ate at, and between the tire smoke and incredible noise it was awesome!

I was debating whether to put them on for some time now, I got them for a good price so I thought I could sell them if I needed to. I didn't want to cut the car and especially the rocker trim pieces they are expensive and if I didn't like the sidepipes I would have to buy new ones. I also thought if I run the cutouts I could go to a quieter exhaust and then uncap them when the ricers were buzzing me ( even though that doesn't happpen anymore )

* 3 inch exhaust will flow pretty good but I bet the cutouts will still net me 20 -30 HP and if I go with quieter mufflers then maybe more.

So I guess no one has tried them yet ?
