Noisey Differential
Friends 80 Corvette with all new differential is knocking during deceleration.At 60-70 MPH it sounds like muffled machine gun fire.At 30 mph and below it sounds like two hammer faces being struck together.
Noise is in differential,not u-joints,transmission,t-arm bearings or differential mount.Its gears or posi-unit but which?

Hard to say, but, if it is only under deceleraton I would look at the front snubber bushing. If it is loose or bad, that will allow the U-joint to hit the body or the frame. Another possibility is a very badly set up pinion or a loose pinion.
