Birdcage Rust !
Need Advice ..... Bought a 1980 sight unseen ( learning ) from Hamilton Ont. Upon closer inspection the bird cage is bad. I think I could do the body off and not have to remove the # 2 body mounts and they would not bind a bit. I have been told locally the best fix is a complete donor rear clip. The body itself has been painted recently and looks prettty good. I feel as though I would be throwing awawy a pretty good body.
The post that lead up to the windshield seem the worst. A little rust around the # 3 but not as bad as #2. Kind of dishearted, this was suppossed to be my frame off ground up long term car. Other have said clean it up, sell it and start looking again , but smarter this time . Thanx Brent

Well, I say, if you like it, keep an open mind. Being an 80 model, you might find a great deal on a rear clip. The later C3's dont seem to run as much cash as the early ones. Or, you could just drive it, like I would. It can be dangerous, but, ahh, oh well.
I'm not a big fan of passing the buck as a 'cat in the bag' though. Dishonesty is never the way to go. Just my .02
