I am just about to put my new rear diff in and I was wondering how much additive to put in with the gear lube? Also what type of gear lube should I use?

1 bottle of GM Posi Additive
I use Mobil1 and I really like it - but that can turn into a thread on it's own... and has many times!
I just changed mine in the 82 yesterday.
1 bottle of additive and 3 1/2 bottles of GM 80-90 wt.
You can add an extra bottle of addtive if you want to.
Get you a suction gun and go at it.
I put the additive in first and then the lube.
I make a few slow figure 8's to get everything lubed up good.
I am sure there is a bunch on here about exactly how to do it.
Thats just my .02
I also changed my rear end snubber bushing. that is a different story altogether.!
Is the "limited slip" additive that kragen sells any good? I drained mine (origional fluid after 30+ years) and put in 1 bottle of the limited slip additive and topped it off with fresh fluid. It still whines at 60mph. Goes away by 70mph. Think i should drain and refill with a couple genuine gm bottles?

POSI additive won't have any effect relative to the whine. WHen it gets old or isn't used, the POSI clutches are grabby and chatter/clang.
Replacing the fluid might help the whine. I found that the Mobil1 quiets gears down better than dino oil.
