When installing kick panels (never had the pasanger side) Next to the passenger kick panel speaker hole, I see there is a brass disc looking thingy with a vacuum port. Can I remove this so I don't have to cut the kick panel? And what is it?
I believe if I'm remembering correctly that it's a pod that opens & closes the fresh air door. Non-A/C cars do not have this. It also closes the door to keep warmer air out when the A/C is on, opens when the A/C is "OFF".
paul is correct .its the passenger side kick panel re-circulate door which opens when you put the a/c in'' max air mode''---- at the same time another ones closes-this one is in the wiper well also on the passenger side- which closes off incoming fresh air-now your car is re-circulating cabin air-which will get colder(well its supposed to anyway)-than cooling fresh air---you can watch these work (if you want to) by taking off the kick panel and opening the hood and pull out that screen in the wiper well so you can see that ''flapper'',,, start the car, and have someone sit inside and put the air on,,,,,the have them switch to max air---you'll see that one in the wiper well slam shut----- then try again this time look at the kick panel---start car,, put on air---and put in max air again---this time the kick panel acuator will open-there doing it at the same time cuz theres a ''t'' in the vaccume load off the rotary vaccume switch...which feeds both accuators vaccume when put into max,, iknow this because i had to trouble shoot my entire vaccume system to get my a/c working .the vaccume diagram is the best in the assembly manual for this--- the only thing that was wrong with mine was ''bubba'' pinched a ''source''vaccume line going to the vaccume switch-so nothing was getting vaccume-- he did this while installing the radio!!!

you either have non a/c kick panels,,or they all come like that and if you have a/c it has to be notched out for the accuator. i just had all this apart again, and went out there and looked. just now.its supposed to go around the accuator-that how they were-when you look down there at the kick panel you see the actuator--with the kick panel cut out going around it-if you want ill go take a picture of mine so you can see it-and ''dats all i gotta say bout dat''-sounds like tony saprano talkin'
here's the photo of the passenger kick panel,,,,a/c car--- i believe they must all be the same kick panels as far as non a/c and a/c cars, because on my drivers side i have the ''slot'' in it for the vent to open & close and you dont have that ''ball'' or manual vents on a -a/c car--- so i dont need that slot in the kick panel... but thats how there made! ,,," 1 kick panel fits all'' i guess!-----------
boy what page did you find this post on,!!!! its been a while since i posted replys to it..i took that photo and can tell you its a hard shot to take. its hard to get down there to aim and shoot, but if you want the kick panel on your gonna have to cut to fit----also i dont believe you'll be able to re-locate the diaphram actuator ,because there's a arm that it attaches to to activate the door to close and open,,i know you hate to cut the kick panel, but thats what your supposed to do to install it,,,good luck,,,,carl----------------
