Your pcv valve in the valve cover has a hose going from the top of it to the air filter/cleaner base.

Norval,

Yes! That's it! I need the part that connects the hose to the air cleaner. I think it has a spark arrestor in it but I can't seem to find anything. My air cleaner doesn't have anything there - I'm going to drill the hole and install and get rid of my crappy breather on the valve cover.

At one time we discussed making one - do you know the name of the part and where to find one - or how to make one?

Thanks!

A lot of times, your airfilter will have a knock out area in the base that you have to knock out in order to connect it.

You have a PCV, You have a hose... you have the aircleaner... are you looking for a Plastic hosebarb to slide the hose onto? Dont know if a parts store carries that For sure could find it on any car with an air cleaner on the engine, not the fenderwell in a junkyard.

My pcv valve hose goes to a vacuum fitting at/on the carburetor base. There is another hose (breather?) that goes from the opposite valve cover to a filter/screen thing mounted to the air cleaner housing (sorta like # 1 or # 2 in this pic:

Edit: Here's what I'm referring to (fr. Eckler's):

Which hose is the O.P. referring to?

Hmm...

PCV = Positive Crankcase Ventilation

Used to be a hose that ran to the ground... car'd leave spots everywhere it went. Enviromentalists decided this was bad, and made the engine eat the oil fumes.

Keeps from blowing the seals out of the engine... the breathers work, but PCV is a simple system... Just a check valve! Most that I've seen hook up to the aircleaner housing outside of the filter element.

My car had afermarket valvecovers, only one had the PCV... so cant help you with the second breather!

OK, were getting closer - I'm looking for the thing that the hose would connect to under the air cleaner - it sucks air from the crankcase and into the carb - I have the other part that goes from the back of the carb base to the pass side valve cover - I need the parts that connect the hose from the driver's side valve cover to the bottom of the air cleaner. In the photos above it would be 4 or 5 - (you sure have a lot of stuff going into your air cleaner!) I think the valve cover part is simply a pvc valve - could it be that the air cleaner part is just a barbed nipple with a screen on it?

pm

Edit: Apparently its a "14 inch Air Cleaner Assembly To Valve Cover Tube Part# 37844 from Ecklers

http://www.ecklers.com/product.asp?p...969CF86VNK1LN5

Thank you all for helping!
