i'd ordered a set of silver seatbelts from a '94 firebird off ebay and they got here yesterday. cut the shoulder guides off, removed the buckles, looped it through the vette's shoulder guide and replaced the buckles with the ones from the junky aftermarket lapbelts the vette had already. these fit into the existing receptacles and it's all good! work like a charm. i'm so excited. still gotta get new bolts for the retractor that don't have that smooth part at the top that's too big, and figure out a way to secure it under the seat. now i'll be safe when i drive to wherever i'm going to start dissembling it at!
the retractor under the seat has a torques head bolt-that runs thru the retractor ,thru the floor and threads into the reinforcement plate under the car,if these reinforcement s are not there, there's nothing to bolt them to, youll need to get those plates .there in the catalogs, also there held in place by large rivits.
carl, the bolt under the seat that held the original retractor is rusted away.....i'll have to replace that.
jeaux, yeah the buckles were reuseable. the ones from the firebird were more difficult to remove than the vette ones. the vette ones have a plastic retainer on the metal bar that the belt goes around. you have to kind of wedge the bar out of the firebird one with the help of a hammer and screwdriver. anyway, 20 minutes will getcha all fixed up and no harm done
