Default Rear end oil?

Today I plan to crakc open the rear end, check everything out, and replace the oil. I may also drill and tap for a drain plug while the cover is off. Yesterday I called my parts house to see if they had the positrack additive and was told that they did. When I got there, the little 8 ounce bottle said limited slip additive. I told the guys that this is not what I need. They told me that it was what I need and it is what they run in their rear ends. I know very little about this subject so I need someone to tell me if I am being given the correct information by these guys. Will the limited slip additive work or will it hurt my rear end?

That is what you need. Not sure what brand they are selling you, mine is GM, some people start with one bottle and add a second if they get a lot of clutch noise. I would stick with the GM stuff since we know it works.

yes, that's what you need. Same thing. Why bother with a parts house? Just go to your GM dealer and get the factory original stuff.

Get the GM stuff. It works! Don't know what other type you are talking about but some of the additives don't work to well.

Dealer not open today or on Saturdays. By the time I get off work in the evenings they are closed also. Also, I'm one of those guys that will wake up in the morning and just out of the blue decide to go buy and new carb or set of wheels or some other crazy thing. Nothing is ever really planned with me, just what ever strikes me at the moment!

After reading the post, called the parts house and the brand is Red Line. They say it is better than factory. Is it good stuff?

Redline makes some good stuff, but I don't know that I would want anything other than the GM in my vette. I would try to find time to visit the dealersip.
The limited slip additive is GM part#1052358
The rear diff. lube is GM part #1052271
