speedometer gear removal

Default speedometer gear removal
I put 370`s in my 75 and of course this screws up the speedometer reading. after a little research I figure I need a gear with 2 more teeth. So I start to remove the old one. I removed the keeper & started to pull out the housing when trans fluid began leaking I put it back. How do you get this out without losing all the fluid?

My son changed it in my 78. just put a small pan uner tranny and catch fluid. you won't lose much.

Did that a couple of month ago, very little fluid back there.My hardest part was getting the driven gear off the shaft. Everything is easier if you drop your cross member.
