undefinedi am the third or fourth owner of a 71 LS5... what are the chances that the tank sticker would still be on the car....i have felt on top of the gas tank but don't feel anything that would indicate its presence...your poinions would go a long way as to whether i drop the tank...doesn't look like a very hard job

IMHO, one thing I'd check is "IF" you have the original Gas tank in your 71 Corvette. If so, then go at it. But many C3's have had new Gas Tank installs due to leakage and the gas tank replacements are so cheap compared to a repair.
Depending on where it was placed you may be able to see it by removing the rubber boot around your fuel tank neck. I was able to see and remove the tank sticker on my 70 by doing that. The "feel" method is not reliable because of the 30+ years of dirt that would be on the sticker. On my 71 I have done everything short of dropping the tank and have not found a sticker. GOOD LUCK
I did a tank replacement 2 weeks ago on my '69 and there was no tank sticker. Can't really say if the tank had been replaced before but it was an original with the logo and all. It did have a sticker on the bottom side of the tank with a dealership name and address in OR. I sure was hoping it would have been there.
