Headers - Opinions
I have the motor out of the car. The 383 arrives today. The headers on the car seem OK, a little surface rust, but can be cleaned up and painted. Jegs has a pair of Dynomax Cerama-Coat headers for under $300.00. Paint or Replace?????

I got a quote to have them coated. It is almost as much as the new, and time is an issue.

Replace. You'll be able to get a few bucks for the old headers on ebay. I did it once!

Has anyone repainted their headers? Does the paint last?

Almost 30 years ago I painted headers with white High Temperature Paint and it stayed on pretty good. They were painted before any rust was on them. Are today's paints any better? I don't know.

I would buy the ceramic coated ones and clean up the old ones and paint them, then sell the old nice looking painted ones on ebay!

How much heat reduction do the ceramic coated headers give you in the car?
