Default Eckler's vs. VBandP vs. VanSteel

I am looking at two front end rebuild kits. The one on Eckler's looks like you get a lot more for your money than the one on vbandp. What do you think? See links below.

http://www.vbandp.com/detail.aspx?ID=473

A Van Steel Rep contacted me and added this to the mix. Which kit is better?

Go with VBP. I used them for parts on my rebuild and the quality was outstanding not to mention the customer service. If you have a technical question they can and will take the time to answer it. Just my two cents.

1. VB & P is a supporting vendor, and they give a Forum discount.
2. Their customer support is SUPERB.
3. The Eckler's parts were almost certainly made by VB & P.

My .02.

I would query the vendors as to source. A couple of years ago there were front-end kits originating in the Far East.

Both use offshore parts, like the ball joints and tie rod ends. Do you really need the upper a-arm shafts?? Is anything wrong with yours? Here is my kit.

Always seems like the stock answer here is "get the more expensive ones". Why?

I don't see a whole lot of difference in those two packages... except the VB&P comes with upper A-arm shafts... I'm not sure why they'd include those as they don't normally 'wear out' or anything. Is that really worth $130 more to you, especially if you don't need them?

Not a knock on VB&P... I've ordered from there as well..... Just think it makes sense to get what you need, at the best price you can get it.

>Ecklers> 4 sets of balljoint boots in pic.????

VB&P also offers 4 lesser kits.

No they are not. Their ball joints are offshore. Who do you think rebuilds their a-arms? I do and they supply the parts.

Guys I'm not bashing VBP, so whoever called and told them I am bashing them is telling lies. I'm simply stating what I see. I used to use the same ball joints and they are offshore. I had problems with them so we switched back to our US brand. If your upper ball joints have a gold circle on them, they are offshore. Point blank. And stop spreading bad rumors. If you have something to say, call me and we can discuss it.

VBandP should have at least looked at the thread. There is a difference if someone is stating fact versus blatant lie to steer business in another direction. I for one seen no bashing at all.

All I stated, is vbp has great parts, as i made sure before I
bought the frontend rebuild kit, that I was not getting cheap parts. I
dont think they would use cheap parts, as you never hear any complaints from their customers. or members here. But I may be wrong!

No their parts are not cheap. Most of the things they carry are made in the US. I was just stating that their ball joints are offshore. Maybe they've changed manufactures recently. I don't know. The ones that I have seen are offshore.

Last I heard, TRW/Moog was bought out by an outside company.

Why would I lie? I am just saying what I see is offshore joints. If I am wrong I will admit it. I'm not trying to steal business from anyone. We work closely w/VBP and Ecklers.

can't speak to Van Steel 'cause i haven't used it......but i've never been disappointed with anything i've bought from VBP. their customer service is and their reputation is great. what's the big deal with off shore? virtually every product you buy in this country is "offshore" now thanks to the infinite wisdom of our leaders.
