Chrome front bumpers have rivets holding the header bar up.
I'm pretty sure 73-up are simply glued on.
I'm surprised you replaced the rivets, as most people just take them out.
Then, they pull the header bar and glue it back up after cleaning and painting.
Looks like you'll be good for quite a while. I would have chosen stainless steel rivets. They look like aluminum from here.
Good job. Most people just live with this as a trait of the car.
Yours will be show quality when done.
I thought you were trying to go for the aerodynamic look....like a golf ball
Actually, I was going for the biker studded look.
I counted 36 holes. Where are the other 2?
What are you Rainman? Note the beer in the pic below.
I'm still mystified as to how you go the holes round and not touch the head of the rivet? That look like a sanding drum you have on the dremel, or is it a grinding stone.
I used a cylindrical grinding stone with a beveled edge. I attacked the glass right above the rivet and drove down to the rivet. I ground all the glass and putty off of the head, then drilled out the head and cleaned out the hole a little after the rivet was gone.
Thanks for all the info, I've been "dealing" with these pimples long enough! Its time to make them go away! Need a little more know how regarding "gluing" the panel back vs. riveting.

Thanks. Reconsider. I think glue is the wrong direction since you have to eliminate the rivet anyway, which is real easy to do. Your going to have the hole where the rivet was, so it's no big deal putting the new one in.
