I started a thread a few weeks back about my coil-over setup for the 80 aluminum diff car.
One of my issues is finding a short enough shock without spending an arm and a leg and one valve for roadracing not drags. I have a pair of Bilstein S6M-3050 which have a 13 inch compressed length including rod ends. Based on that this means I need to move the upper shock mount inside the rear frame so I can move it up as much as possible instead of mouning on the bottom flat of the frame.
I now have to locate the lower mount about 7 inches below the rear of the trailing arm to allow the rear suspension to compress without bottoming the shock.
Oh well more to follow as this progresses (slowly).
I used 5 inch travel shocks that were about 15 inches extended and 10 inches compressed and was able to use the stock upper shock mount. I did make a billet shock mount instead of the sheet metal one that is stock but it is in the stock location.
The 5 inch shock travel gave me 7 inches at the wheel.

Norval - I did find a few shorter shocks but they aren't many. I needed somehting that was a more common length so I can swap them out easy for other brands or valving changes.
The Bilsteins are very reasonable so I suppose I'll just fab the mount to fit the 13 inch compressed length.
