I am looking for a new or used set of Hooker chrome side pipes for my 68. I just checked with ecklers and they want 1400.00 for a new set. Wow.... I am getting ready to buy 4 new 20" wheels for 1300.00.
Does any one know where I can buy a set of used (really good condition) or new chrome hooker side pipes for cheap?
I know you can get the "fake" sidepipes from jc whitney for cheap. When I say fake they aren't like the Hookers with 4 real exhaust tubes coming out, they have four tubes but only one is hooked to your headers you have now. These sidepipes a real quality, but not Hookers.
I hope this helps. There are others on the forum running the fake pipes.
try jet-hot; i think they're around 1K for the same pipes, coated. there was a GP on these a coupla months ago, it i want to say the price was down in the high 8's.
I can't comment on the JCW pipes since I don't have them... but that would be "par for the course" for them. I've been buying stuff on & off since 1964 from them.... and a lot of it was a "surprise" when I got it in the mail. Never buy their tap & die sets... absolutely the worst/lowest quality stuff I've ever seen. Sent it all back.... ate the shipping charges. Yes... they have cheap prices, but the stuff is almost always useless. I bought a "fuel regulator" from them once for a tripower system, and it looked like a part off a WWI truck. Totally useless POS. Not worth the postage to send it back. That's been my experience with them- for what it's worth.
i have the Whitney pipes on my car looks and sounds great!
And yes there is one inlet and 3 "dress up".
i have headers on the car and after that its home made into the pipes
looks something like this not my car on the pic.The U piece on my car is alittle bigger to get them alittle better flow
and here is a pic of the pipes on my car
havent noticed any powerloss over the original dual exhaust so im happy and they sound just great, have a sound file but no place to host it
I think 1funvet and Signguy on the forum has the same pipes on their cars

"The look of an expensive tuned header/side pipe exhaust system—at a fraction of the price! With one functioning inlet tube and 3 dress-up tubes."
Must be a different set of sidepipes.... here's what I copied from their online catalog:
2" diameter inlet tubes. Functioning inlet tube is enlarged to fit over 2" outside diameter header downpipe. Choose 63", 73", or 83" long. Kit features built-in high-flow mufflers (with efficient 6-sided louvered cores) to absorb noise, but not horsepower! Easy installation. Two welded brackets on each pipe allow easy, secure attachment of L-shaped hangers with nuts and bolts. Kits include: 2 complete pipes with 4 tube collectors, installation hangers, nuts and bolts. Choice of 3 lengths to accommodate virtually all applications.
Note: Length of side pipes is measured from the bend in the collector to the end of the side pipe. Cannot be shipped express. Please check local emission laws before ordering.
