tshort: Interesting. I can't really see the coil over setup very well.
Not crazy about the tires hanging out so far from the body too.
$10,500 and reserve met. WOW...sombody is taking a BIG loss!!!

Dep
hey Dep -
still haven't gotten by my buddy's shop - but that's a similar setup. Instead of the coil overs, he's got the transverse leaf spring.

Hi Jeff,
I just couldn't get an eyeball on the suspension. Too many pics of the body and not enough of the rear end at different angles
Still would like to see your pics
heres 1 with a DANA rearend. he's a buddy. this is taken from the online carshow, page 6 or 7. i'll see if i can take some pics of his rearend work for ya's. heres a link http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/332532 he's also a new forum member.
MY name is Quick 1, I was born a 1969 t-top, I have a big block 427, with ported & polished heads, A High rise Intake with dual Quads, Hooker Side Mount headers, an MSD ignition, and 500+hp. My rear end is a Dana 60 narrowed 6 inches, a M-22 rockcrusher 4 speed trans, and Wineberry DELTRON paint to die for!!
I had my 1st owner for 7yrs., then I got lucky to be picked up by my 2nd & current owner who has taken my body off & changed every nut & bolt on me! I have been through 5 different paint jobs, my motor has been rebuilt 4 times, and my rear end has been jerked out & replaced TWICE! Now that Im lookin & feelin good, he still hammers my go pedel! and I LIKE IT!

Can't tell much from the one pic of the car without a body on it. I see the Dana but can't see what the suspension looks like
A local guy has a box-stock ZZ502 in his '75, and WHEN he doesn't bust I.R.S. parts, he goes low-12s/112: he's broken it 3 times in 7 trips to the strip.
He must not know what he is doing if he's broken parts 3 times in 7 trips. My stick car runs low 12's at 116 and has made close to 200 passes down the track with no problems in the rear end that I rebuilt myself.
I did modify the posi with a larger pinion shaft (from a 12 bolt)and gears (because the pinion shaft had elongated its fit in the posi), polished the case, and got rid of the posi springs and used shims instead. I also ground the bearing caps so they 'rocked' slightly to get a preload on the bearings, along with replacing the bolts with allen bolts. I also filed the case to get rid of stress risers. I did use Spicer u joints all around as well.
I will add that I have a dual mount spring along with heim joint strut arms, heavy duty pinion snubber, and the large aluminum washers to hold the diff rail in place. All of that helps keep the diff in one spot.
This is not quiet what your looking for Dep but it may be a cheap easy solution to some of the worries on high 10's 11 and 12 second c-3's. This kit might already been posted on here a few times on the forum already but I am new here so here go's. Dragvette kit
Tumarr: Yep...I made one post about the Dragvette kit already.
It's definitely what to install if you stay with the stock IRS.
It seems Olivier has Tom's 12 bolt conversion in his car and it's holding up pretty well. But the catch is he's using an auto. I wouldn't even change anything in the IRS with the exception of the Dragvette kit if I were running an auto. But the heavy shock of dumping the clutch puts a LOT more stress on parts than any auto. Just not sure Tom's setup could handle that stress.
Pretty neat Ross!!! Any idea how much it cost to put on?
Dep
naw, no idea. they did all the work and fabricating themselves, so it didn't cost to much. roy and his bros are very talented. his bro is high up on the GM fabricating team. anyhow, he's gonna find some pics and post em. u can eat dinner off his frame and u can count your nose hairs in his paint.
Put a "solid axel" into a C2-3 Vette? You are presently the front runner for "Bubba of the Year/Decade/Century" award. You should look for some early drum brakes too as the disc brakes on a Vette have a lot of friction that is slowing down your ETs. Why don't you just buy a Nova or Camaro and be done with it! (I agree!)
In defence to dep, He has stated his reasoning several times in this thread on why he wants a solid rear axle, he does make good arguments for it. Is it "bubba" to do modifications on your own vehical so that it may perform a desired task better or more reliably? Is it "Bubba" to enhance the motor or suspension to suit a certain task such as drag racing? What He is asking for is a bolt in kit that will put a proven strong rear axle into the vette yet be fully reversable, not using a coat hanger for a radio antenna.

Thanks Tumar. You are exactly correct. Don't pay any attention to the naysayers. They like to pick at ol' Dep because they think it will rile me up. It won't
My days of lashing back at those taunts is long gone. I'm a "kindler, gentler Dep" that understands their type
Have you looked at WWW.Greenwoodcorvettes.com theres a 4 bar setup that looks like it will be a bolt up system to the C-3s rear frame and use a straight axel....

Help me out Chuck. I went all through the Greenwood site and couldn't find what you mentioned. Can you post a link??
