I might not have made the post clear enough. I realize that Hagerty does not insure houses and everyday driver vehicles.
Was asking anyone's experiences with getting claims settled by working directly with Hagerty as compared with having a local agency help settle the claim for you with Hagerty?
My original reasoning for going with an agency was if they write a lot of policies with Hagerty, they may have more clout with Hagerty, than an individual would. Am considering eliminating the agency and going direct with Hagerty.
I had a claim once in an accident that wasn't my fault, so they got reimbursed by the other insurance company... They handled my claim very quickly without any issues... Don't know it would've been if the accident was my fault and they'd actually have to pay from their money... Don't know if this would've made a difference...
on christmass morning my 65 conked out a couple miles from my house. couldn't get a truck to come so my wife jumped in the truck with a tow rope. well, i'll just say before we got home i needed a new front clip. hagerty came through like a champ.
I bought my first vette in June 2004. In August I was driving home from my company's home office an hour away from where I live and a bracket in the rear suspension broke causing my driver's side rear tire to tilt in. I called Hagerty on my cell and they called a tow truck for me. The distance from where I broke down to home was over 60 miles. It did cost me a little out of pocket because of the distance, but still a very positive experience.
