Default Rear End Gasket

The place I got my new rebuilt rear end from told me not to use any permatex at all on the GM gasket. It is the regular GM gasket, not rubber and not cork.

Do most people agree with that?

Just put the gasket on and torq to specs in an offset order? I for one have not been very lucky over the years with torqing gaskets and not having any leaks.

I don't use any sealer just Permatex High Tack. Spray it on let it set for a minute or two and install. It becomes very tacky very quickly. I did not have any leaks doing it this way.

I always use either #2 permatex or the gray RTV on gaskets. You don;t need any leaks there. Use the #2 on the pinion threads too when installing the yoke or you'll get a leak for sure.
