I have Goodyear Eagle GT II in 255/60/15 and they only rub on hard turns (i.e. turning into a parking space).

i have 245/60/15's on my 79 and they don't rub at all. all depends on how "straight" your car is. if frame is starting to sag or body is not properly aligned on frame or if you have any suspension problems, you may get rubbing in the fenderwells especially on slow fully locked out turns.

mid america and Ecklers (and others) sell 255/60/15's out of their catalog or over the net. i believe they sell Goodyear Eagles and Dunlops. if you want more variety try tirerack.com on the net. they will ship direct to you and have lots of brands and options.

Good luck.

I had 275/60/15 on the rear of my 71 and they came close (1/4") to the e-brake tab, but I never had any problems.

I have a pair for sale actually...PM me if interested Dunlop GT Qaul. barely any miles on them.

I have Nitto 275/60/15 DR's on the rear and they are pretty big. I'm pretty sure they won't fit in the front on stock rims. My rims are 15x8. My setup is 245/60/15 front, 275/60/15 DR rear.

Did you have to modify the trailing arms or E- brake for those rear wheels. They look BAD AZZ.
I have 15x8 rally rims. I'd wonder if they would fit?

I can't imagine running 275's in the front. My 275's in the back are like balloons.

why would anyone want a 60 aspect 275 tire on the front????? 50s might be somewhat okay if they even fit, 255 50s are the best compromise between a wide tire and a reasonable side wall IMO.

As for the rear, yes it'll fit, I ran a 255/50/15 &275/60/15 combo for years.

Any rub on the front wheel wells with 255/50/15's?

no, but the 79+ models have a little more room in the front, (some 79s came w/ factory trimmed fiberglass)..so maybe a little trimming required.

I have a 1980 with stock alum. rims and I have BFG/TA 255/60/15 front and back with no trouble at all. They do not rub on the front.

275-60-15 tires do not fit the rear without modifications - you either have to remove the parking brake cable bracket or you use a rim with less backspacing to move the tire outwards, away from the trailing arms. The stock 8" rims have 4" BS, I am using a 1" spacer to make my rear tires fit - that means a 8" rim with 3" BS will be a good fit....

With the stock rims the 275 tire will be very close to the trailing arm and the spring... I prefer to move the rim out, that way the tire is not so close to the spring. If you have less than 1" between sidewall and spring (especially if you use the 8" or 10" bolts for the spring...) then it's getting scary.... the huge sidewall flexes a lot when cornering....

275/60/15 will fit without modifying the parking brake, I ran them and never had problems. When I installed my old wheels w/ tires on a 75 I had to move the parking brake so something must be different there.

I had 275/60r15 in the stock wheels of a 1980 and loved it love the look but handling sucks because thats a wide tire on 8in wide wheel. Now I have 275/40r18 and want 275/45r18 to mach the look I had with bigger wheels. My e brake was disconnected but as fare as I know that was it
