We just got an exhaust manifold jet coated for our old mercedes and like what jet hot did ...
we are also going to do it for the vette, but seeing that we want a new headers / side pipes, as the other ones have some wear, would like to know what would be the best headers / pipes to get?
Engine is a 454 bored to 462 and getting a rebuild as we speak.
Also, is there a way to tell what type of headers we have currently?
Jet hot can get these. I think they use hookers. Hooker also males a coated version you can get from Summit. I think Jet hot buys the black painted ones (big price diff) and then coats them.
I went with summit stainless steel. I have a small block.. not sure if they make the stainless steel for a big block. You may want to call Hooker directly.
If you want the stock set up, Jet Hot may have a set up as well, or you could buy "stock" from a supplier and have them coated yourself. I know here in No. CA there is a shop that does coating in So. SF that takes walk in business with about a 5-7 day turnaround.
I know they supply them (jet hot) as my dad said he was going to order them next week with our engine builder .. what i wanted to know if those are good or if there is something better out there =]
What's your goal? Jet Hot uses the Hooker pipes (even has the Hooker plaque on them). I don't know that you can beat the "JetHot connection" as far as price/performance goes. For *****-out, price-no-object performance, Stahl headers/sidetubes in stainless and then JetHot coated would be your choice. I know it seems pointless to coat stainless, but remember that it reduces radiated heat into the engine compartment and thereby increases power...
