Default Things I have learned so far

Freshening up a 72 BB and have learned.

1. The advertised matching number statement was correct.
2. The motor is very clean on the inside.Backside of the timing
belt cover was like new. Timing gear had almost no wear,
replace it anyway along with the chain.
3. Motor mounts were shot. Man I am glad I pulled the motor.
4. Coolant was so good I saved it.
5. 400 TH is rock solid with no leaks.
6. New oil pan from GM with gaskets was a deal. Can't deal with a
dented oil pan.

Default Number One means......

The car I bought was advertised as a matching number car, like I cared, I wanted a hot rod and was looking for the first car that would meet the criteria. Price, condition, location. What I found out, during engine removal, was that the engine serial number, intake number, manifolds, carb, heads, cam all had the correct numbers for the car.

1972 454 Corvette

Project photo's will follow soon.....

Plans call for:

Original side pipes, sanderson headers, new carb, wires, Street and performance pulleys/Alt/A/C/Water Pump, Powder Coat intake, heads,
motor repaint, Rad, twin fans, valve covers, 18" & 17" Intro Wheels, brake upgrade, interior made new, ect. Project Complete in time for A full summer of fun.

Remember cool ain't cheap......
