I am in need of an elbow for the outlet on the fuel pump on my 80. Seems GM used an elbow on the outlet of the pump starting in 1977 till 81. The fuel lines I ordered from Ecklers and Corvette Central won't hook up at the pump because I am missing this elbow. The elbow is 3/8 inverted flare female/male and I am unable to find one locally or from the Corvette parts suppliers. Any help will appreciated.
I went through this when I changed my fuel pump and destroyed the old brass fitting trying to remove it. I found a new one at NAPA, it was my first try. Lowes or Home Depot may have it too, but you may have to bring your pump for fitting purposes.
I JUST went through this last week.... Your best bet: go to Lowes/Home Depot to get your fittings.... it was a pain in the *** for me, but I finally found the ones I needed.
It's standard pipe thread coming out of the pump... but then you need to convert it to inverted flare. I got two 90* elbows.... one was pipe thread to pipe thread... the other was pipe thread to inverted flare..... Cost about $5 total...
Thanks for the info everybody. I went to Napa at lunch today and had them pull a fuel pump for the 80 and used a weatherhead # 402x6 fitting and my Corvette Central fuel line, works like a charm. I came home tonight and installed the fitting in the pump that I had already installed as it matched the Napa pump, and in about 10 minutes I was done. Real simple.
Thanks guys.
