Windshield polishing kit
Anyone ever tried a windshield polishing kit ? Looks like you can get one from the usual suspects for about 50 bucks, would like to know the results if anyone has tried it.
If you can catch your finger nail in the scratches they will not come out. The polishing kit may dull the scratches or rubs but will not take them out, also polishing may impair your vision thru the area you polish, it is not a cure.
Works on windshield only and takes forever. The windshield is laminated glass and you can get minor scratches and hazing out, but the side and rear glass is tempered and you will not be able to get any scratches out. Bubba put an DA sander to my rear glass and my side glass has scratches from rolling up and down with bad seals.
Get a new windshield, don't waist your time or money. A new windshield installed is one of the most cost effective improvements you can do...IMO. $200 or less installed at your home. I took the old one out myself to inspect for and make any rust repairs. I also tried Zaino for glass...claims to make minor scratches disappear. It helped a bit, but not much. Also spent several minutes on one small light scratch with a compound and drill polisher, again minimal results. Went for new glass and very glad I did.

And also replace those chrome trim pieces that have the mating holes for the T-Tops/Convertible top. These things get corroded and for a lot of C3's you have to remove the windshield to replace them. If you've got the windshield out, this is a good time to replace these parts.
Had bought the polishing compound but was lucky to borrow the polishing head from a friend at a local auto glass outlet. Initially wondered why the polisher was in such good condition. Realized it soon enough - as posted earlier, it takes a looooong time, much more than I was prepared to spend. When I returned the polisher, my friend never even asked how it went - he knew. Some people just have to learn the hard way - thrive on steep learning curves!
