rear gear lube---update
Got the differential down and opened up. I have to think this thing has never been apart or the lube changed since 1972. The crap that's in there won't even drip out. It's like grease. 
I'm going to scrap it out as best possible, try to flush it with WD40, let it drip dry, then proceed to finish.
