Actually, they work on vaccuum from your intake. Sounds to me like you broke a fitting or otherwise didn't get a hose back on correctly.

I'll be interested what kind of replies you get on this since I went through a similar situation a couple of years ago. I went from stock exhaust (74) to 2 1/2" pipes, flowmasters, and an H pipe....no headers. I quickly noticed that my lights went from slow to really really slow. I always guessed that my engine vacuum (somehow) changed due to the free flowing system. I knew my headlight relays were marginal and after a rebuild everything worked ok. I never could get an opinion on whether freeing up the exhaust system could cause a vacuum change.

I would think freeing up the exhaust would give more vacuum. You have pinched a vacuum line or you hooked them back up wrong.

I found the problem, it was just a forgotton hose on the back on the intake manifold. Thanks stoge i was looking in the wrong place the whole time. Finally i got enough sense to trace the lines back to where they originate. and Presto, up the lights come. slower than before but ill take some added HP over slow lights anyday! .

and to the reallllllly slow light problem, thats probably a line thats not attached all the way and its not creating a strong enough vaccume
