ac leak and tach meter problem
By the blower under the dood, when I turned on my ac, cool air are leaking back through the blower and ito the engine compartment (passenger side under the hood). Before I open the sucker up, I just want to make sure I am not going to create any more problem. Please advise.
As for my tach meter, it works ok except when the ignition is in the off position. The needle pointed to 800 rpm when the ignition key is at the off position. It would zero out when the ignition is switch to on.
Thanks for helping.

Just a stab in the dark, but it is possible that your's has come loose.
If your hose is still in place and/or the air leak is in another location you will probably need to pull the evaporator box off and re-install with a seal kit. This is a big job!! You will have to pull the passenger side exhaust, the AC compressor, the AC hoses, the receiver-dryer, and the passenger side and center dash. If you do have to go to all this trouble I would also suggest that you install a new heater core while you are in there, it might just save you from having to do it again in another year or so.
Sorry, I can't help with the tach but I'm sure someone else will chime in.
As for removing the evaporator, do you know of any online guide with photos to do this? I like to research this prior to tackling the problem. I checked corvettedfaq and they did not seem to have anything relating to a/c evaporator. Any help is appreciated. Thanks Kevin
