After they expire they have to be recertified...if you race in a class where they check for proper certification it's a must..on the street..fughettaboutit.

I think you're right Howard. Similar to the Pharmaceutical industry where drug expiration dates are getting shorter and shorter. No way a drug would expire in 2 years. I remember right outa college Pharmaceuticals would have 7-10 yr expiration. Now! Seesh, you're lucky to get 2 yrs.
I bet the sunlight doesn't bother the Big 3's seat belts.
I think NHRA rules only give you something like 2-3 years for you safety belts. I was told last year with my 1 trip to the strip that my harness is outdated and needs to be replaced.
With the little use my car has had, I'd say the back tires are much more worn compared to my harnesses

You are correct:
NHRA allows belts to be used just 2 years after the date of manufacture, not date of purchase, so it makes-sense to buy recently made belts.
I believe a few manufacturers will re-web the belts every 2 years for something like $75-$100.
