Default Name this part??

I am not the brightest bulb in the dashboard but I can't figure out what this item is. Mounted on the driver side behind the front wheel tucked behind the master cylinder just under the top of the fender by the windshield wiper area is black box. It is about 8 inches by 10 inches. It is attached by a short arm with bolts that screw to the fender just behind the front wheel. The bolt heads are tucked up in the fender well area. They look like sheet metal screws/blots. There doesn't appear to be hoses, wires or any other attachments to the box in question. It is a metal box that sounds hollow. I don't have any power items or a/c it is a 68 with a 327.

Name that part???

Many thanks.

Jim

Default Thanks

I'll have to get underneath and see if I am missing the hose to the system.

Thanks, guess I can't yank it out to make room for my ignition control box.

Thanks

make a bracket and put your control box on the firewall

or run the wires through the firewall and mount it under the passenger dash pad.

The hoses would have to be going to it or you would not be able to use the headlights. There would not be enough stored vacumm to lift them. You must just not be able to see the hoses. Unless maybe they would lift, but really slow and the engine would stumble.

The reservoir is only there to hold enough vacuum for one operation after the engine is shut off.....it can be bypassed....which is what I did to check if there was a leak in my reservoir........if I remember correctly there are three hoses that go into the tank........
