Has anyone used the rice burner race seats like these?I dont think ill buy the ones for 100 dollars but its just and example. I needed some racing seats for my race car and they wont get much wear and i didnt want to spend like 1 grand on seats.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...958151962&rd=1
I was thinking about racing seats as well for my 81, but then I started thinking about how the stock seats fold down on themselves for access to the rear area, and I don't think there's any racing seats out there that do that...

If the seats are for a full time race car I would go with some aluminum racing seats. They add safety and are relatively cheap. Try Kirkey or Ultra Sheild.
No offense there buddy, but what gives you the impression thats "rice burning" I just got my 68 vette not to long ago, and am looking to replace my seats for one reason mainly, which is safety. I mean I plan on putting in a 5 point harness belt, and don't think thats really possible w/out getting something like that ....
I was jsut saying because most ice burners have them . I like them .I dont think i whould use the ones i used form the example because for 100 dollars i dont think theyll hold up.Originally i wanted aluminum racing seats but my dad says there to uncomfortable. My cousing races for outback steak house and he has extra aluminum race seats he says we can have so i need to go try those out.
I have a 1968 coupe - cragars, sidepipes, highrise edlebrock etc. etc., and I am looking to go with the corbeau a4(I think). They look alot like those. My reason is the same as the one above. My car is not a racecar, and will never be back to stock, but walks a fine line between hotrod and stock. Safety is a huge concern. My car is pushing a little over 400Hp, and the lap belts are really only going to keep me from flying out of the car, not off the steering wheel. Thus, a 4pt roll bar, and a set of nice race seats with harnesses will be the answer - it wiall also look damn cool. I am really interested in the corbeau a4 seats, unless there is an attractive alternative. If anyone has a suggestion I would be very interested.
If it is really a race car, do not buy "wannabe" race seats. In a serious accident with those fold-down things you are dead. There are plenty of used seats on the market, look on racing stuff for sale websites. ...for a street car, it's worth the wait, buy some decent seats that will last. No that does not include the cheapo Corbeaus that some have used.
same here yellow and munky .. mines a 68 with what should be around 500 hp at the fly once our mechanic is done .. it's also a Convert, thats why I have a big concern on safety.
I wanted to get a good set of seats and possibly a roll bar since I would like to race it once in a while, and well just to be safe ... Where can someone find these aluminum seats? and how uncomfortable are they?
I dont know if there uncomfertable they cant be that bad with the padding and everything. it was just me and my dad are building this car and we were debating on witch seats to go with. I think i am more for the aluminum seats than the wannabe ones but my dad thinks that the aluminum seats will be to uncomferatable. The aluminum seats are cleary safer.
o i just saw you had "race car" in your first post .. I'd say if its gonna be mainly a race car, definitely go for the aluminum since they are safer .. Ours is a street car, and probably only going to go to the track every once in a while so need some comfort loll

I have a set of these in all black going in my 77 for a few weeks while I search for a set of C5's or can save for the A4's. I dont know how close the A4's fit but these generic racing seats are really close and you have to drill holes for the fit. They do sit a few inches higher so if your tall >6ft I would skip them, but Im small framed and this was a really cheap alt. till I can get the seats I wanted. They do look great but they arent the awesome look that the C5's are nor are they leather.

Its not like the early c3s were a beacon of safety either. Any real crash with or without a 1 piece seat will still probably still have the same result...
