Backfire thru the Sidepipes!!
Recently finished puting on a new set of stock sidepipes with the covers and took the car on a little road trip. They sound great, although quite loud. My problem is that when I shut the key off, after about 1 sec, there was one loud backfire through my driver side pipe. What would cause this?? I think my quadrajet is running a little rich, would this cause it?? Also, what damage might this do??

Stock cars backfire through their exhuasts in corners because the idle is not set properly and fuel is being drawn from the carb when backing off the throttle.
Your rich idle could be dumping fuel in the exhuast where is ignites and causes the backfire.
Rich idle is never good and just wastes gas and washes the rings down.

Yea the driveway is 400 feet long and the parking area by the house borders the pond. No one has backed up into it yet but I'm sure it's coming. The shields came with the pipes they are Patriot's. I had Hooker jet hot coated but could not make them fit my block hugger headers.
