Interchangable shifters?
So here's the deal. The shifter shaft on my 81 automatic is rusted up just under the shifter ball. The chrome's been worn off over the years and it's looking just plain bad. Now I know that 68-76 and 77-82 used different shifter assemblies, but what about the shaft? I found a used one on eBay off of a 75 and I'm wondering if it would be possible to just swap out the shafts. I'm swapping transmissions in a couple of weeks and have to make mods to the shifter anyway, so it'd be a great time to do it. Any ideas?
