Default courtesy light help on 78

I was wondering if anyone has or had this problem with their courtesy lights, My courtesy lights will not come on when either of my doors are opened, but when I turn my light switch left, they do come on, so obviously I have power to the lights, the door jamb switches are in good condition with no corosion or broken wires. The only thing I noticed is that the orange box next to the glovebox that controls the delayed lights is badly corroded internally, could this be the problem of my interior lights not coming on from either door, if so is there a way to bypass this or do I have to order it new. any help in this is greatly appreciated

That is most likely the problem area. It is very easy to by-pass the delay module. Look for two white wires at the module plug. Tie the two whites together and it will work with the door switches with no delay.

Can't help on the problem, just thought your problem struck me kinda funny in the fact I have just the opposite problem. My lights work with the doors and not the switch.

with wombvette. Both problems are probably the delay box. I had to take mine out and jump the harness. You can still get the delay box new from GM. I have the part number home.

This sight is wickedly helpful for some of these issues.

Check out TunedPort78's online electrical troubleshooting manual for help. Each circuit is described along with schematics and diagrams of where the components are physically installed.

That was it, I ran a jumper wire accross the two white wires in the module plug and now they work with either door open,,, thanks for the help on this...
