Section split status
Well, I think that it is finally time to try categorizing the C3 section into two different categories. The volume of threads has just become so large that good threads are lost very quickly.
I'm hoping that categories dedicated to Tech and General will help us to stop good threads from going away so quickly yet still provide the amazing amount of input to each thread that we enjoy here.
I've been holding off on the actual mechanics of the split as we are in the middle of a project to improve the search functionality right now. Part of that project includes archiving by section. I don't want to modify any sections until we get that completed.
I will be testing it out this weekend. If all goes well we will put the new search in place on Monday or Tuesday. That would mean that I would give the section split a try soon after that.
As with any major changes, it will not go 100% smoothly. All I ask is that everyone give it a try and give it some time. I believe that it will be a benefit to the C3 discussion once everyone gets used to it.
