Default Suspension Rebuild Question.

I would like to know whats the best way to remove steel sleeves from the control arms. I will be replacing them with VBP Poly bushings with new sleeves.

Before I realized that the sleeves were to be replaced too I removed the old rubber bushings.

Does anyone have pictures?

Thanks,

John

I used an air hammer around the lip of the bushing and pushed them out in one piece - rubber and all.

Yep, air hammer works the best. Or you could take a chisel and hammer and fold half of the sleeve into the inner portion where the bushing was. Once it is loose in the a-arm it can be tapped out.

Can anyone tell me if I have to replace the sleeves or can I just use the original ones?

Thanks,

John

The sleeves ar supposed to spin on the shaft and are actually part of the bushing asy. When you reinstall put some anti sieze compound on the shafts.

Why not? You get new ones. You might as well replace the sleeves. I wouldn't put rusted sleeves on new bushings. If there is a bur in the sleeve you can start to rip the bushing before you even install it.

Why not? because I can't get them out, Can't budge it even with a air chisel, So far I have not damaged them and they are not rusty. so why can't I just use the origanals and save the hassel?

(these are the outside sleeves that install in the control arms )
