Defroster grill ?

Defroster grill ?

When I bought my 1980 it came with the defroster grill but it was not installed. It is the grill that is closest to the windshield in the center of the dash. When I try to push it in ,friction fit style, it wants to pop back out. Do I need to glue this grill in or whats the proceedure ? Thanx Brent

Your not the only one that has had this problem. The heat has warpped it, mine won't sit down flat either. Unfortunately no one currently makes them.

I wasn't aware that the later C3's had defroster grills. My 81 doesn't have one and to my knowledge never has. Maybe you have one for the earlier C3's and that's why it wont fit?

Well if "older than dirt" does not have grill in that opening what is in that opening ?Can somebody with an '80 take a look and see what is in thier defroster opening . Thanx Brent

My 82 has one and buy the discription of his it's just like mine except mine doesn't pop out.I think he wants to know how to install his unfortunaly I don't know.

My defroster was the same way, warped from the heat, what I did was slowly heat it up with a torch from the side that faces down, and made it back to level, now it sits in there flush. just heat slowly while bending it the opposite way of the warp, don't rush or bend to hard or it will probably snap..use a flat surface for accuracy, I used a mirror for this.

When I set it on a flat surface it does not seem to be warped all that much. It is maybe 1/4 of an inch. It seems as though the little hooks on either end do not grab like they should. Both hooks appear to be in good condition.
