Default ??1981 L81 Dual exhaust??

i currently have dynomax super turbo mufflers on it and a high flow cat, i have read that most people take the cat off of this car.... will it really make that much difference? and has anyone cut a pipe and installed true duals on their vette? if so help me out

I just dropped my Cat the other day! Straight piped back to the existing 2 year old mufflers, and it made quite a difference. Smoothed out the engine, and added a little kick! It also opens you up for future mod's.....the more you can exhaust, the more you can put in! Translates to increased HP!!

That's what I have done, true duals are the way to go, they really make a major difference.

A new high flow cat will give you about the same performance as no cat. If you have any smog inspections where you live there is no way you will pass without a cat.

Obviously, you could remove and visually inspect it, or check the exhaust flow at the tailpipes with your hand. A bad cat will reduce airflow significantly.
