Working on my car tonight and I bend the tip of the door handle replacement springs to insert it and each one snapped the second I bent them!! Bought a pair of door locks and only one of them is able to open with the keys that were sent to me...
Now, I'm out 34 bucks, got some locks that don't work, and the springs have both snapped in half. Why does this always have to happen to me??
I bought those replacement spring too and the same thing happen to me. I took the handle out and i found a spring the same size and installed it on my handle. worked fine for many years .

Yeah, I think this is what I'm gonna do as well - just figured it would be an easy replacement... guess I was wrong.
I just e-mailed them at 8:30 central time. The vendor told me to go out and try the lock again, if they don't work, they will send me a new set free of charge - sweet! As for the door springs, this is what they told me...
"The door handle helper springs is not a mystery. They are made from spring steel and if you pinch them too tight at the bend they will snap as would any spring steel part. There is a trick to installing these in the car. What you have to do is have a friend hold the lid of the handle down. Then pinch the spring with your index finger and thumb at the very end of the spring. Do not pinch them all the way down.. Then try to guide it over the spring in the hinge area. Once it start's going on the spring you push the end of it down right in the middle.
Since these springs are made from spring steel they tend to break when they are bent from the center. If you squeeze them at the bent end or pinch them to far down on the other end they will break.
Customer have come in to the store and purchased this item. Walked out to there car and tried to install them. Then they come back in the store and purchase another one. Usually at this point, I will walk out to the parking lot and install the spring for them. "

Are you talking about the "L" shaped piece they sell that slides in over the old spring and holds the door handle up? Or did you replace the actual spring with a new spring? I bought one of the L pieces from Ecklers for $8 (seems a little high) and it installed easy enough but the handle was back down after a few months.

Yeah, it was the L shaped piece.. I kept breaking it off. I'm going to go with the other one now.
