I was wondering if anyone used Different colors of POR-15 on thier frames besides black. Like silver, or clear coat.
ANy pics would be cool! By the way did any of you guys apply the Top Coat? From what I understand it's needed to protect it form UV lights ,but I was just wondering if you did, since I don't think its needed for a frame.

I used the silver & black on the suspension pieces when I redid the front end. I'd stick with the black and topcoat with Krylon if you don't want black. The silver was a little more "runny."
I topcoated most of the pieces with Krylon black just in casse. I do have an on-going experiment though with POR-15. I painted the rusty spots on my basketball pole a few years ago, exposed to direct sunlight for about 3 years now. The POR-15 black, not topcoated, is still there putting up a fight but the rust is now growing around the POR-15. UV light doesn't seem to bother the places I painted.
BTW, if it's below 60-70 degrees, the POR takes a long time to dry.
Yea I thought the silver might look a little 'fake' Another question, anybody who did this how much of this stuff did you order?
I'm gonna do my frame+frame pans+birdcage. How much do I order, I offcourse wanna order a bit morethan needed but not oto much as this stuff is kinda expensive

Yeah, don't order too much. Buy the smaller cans and then more as you need. I think it only has a 6 month shelf life....I know. It turns to rubbery paste sitting in a can.

A friend of mine repainted a gas tank with the silver. It came out looking pretty good. Not as good looking as a new tank but was a great 10 footer. A POR dealer told me that he prefers painting with the silver and then top coating with regular black paint. His reasoning was that the silver has better adhesion with the top coat and the contrasting colors assures that you've topcoated the piece thoroughly.
