Default EBay Scam Alert

Just got this email and I will not touch it with a ten foot pole. Funny thing is, Ebay sent an email right after this scam. Some of the email that is quoted here was not viewable until I highlighted the email to copy it. Then all of the "grapevine meting lined remorseful Judith" stuff showed up.

I've gotten emails from ebay similar to this, but even more so from Paypal. They keep telling me a new email address has been added to my profile and I must go to a website and verify, giving lots of personal information in the process. I called paypal the first time I received it and was told "It wasn't us". So I ignore and delete all correspondence from both if it involves the possbility of my account being closed out. They can call me if they really need me for something. I must admit, it's getting hard to figure out what is real and what isn't.

E-bay and paypal always address you by your user name in liget e-mails if it starts out with dear paypal / e-bay user then it is a scam deleate it and run. This info came directly from e-bay a friend of mine fell for the scam and put all his credit card and bank info onto the scammers form then he called e-bay then he spent the next two days closing out and reopening all his accounts.

I think everyone is aware of the fact that they shouldn't give out billing info or passwords over the net.

Default It's called phishing

they are fishing for CC numbers. All over the news for six months and I'm sure amazed that so many people still fall for it.

I got a little snailmail postcard from my credit card company yesterday. Card said URGENT my account # had been compromised and I had to cancel my account. I called the phone# on the card, gave him my acct#, gave him my ss#, he asked for my mother's maiden name... I said, "wait a sec, how do I know you are who you say you are? I am giving you all this info and you have told me nothing!" I called back on the phone# listed on the back of my cc#. It was legit.

Forward them to spoof@ebay.com unaltered They try to track down the perpetrators and prosecute.
