Ok, the application is TH400 behind a 383 with peak TQ happening around 3000 so I'm thinking a 2200 to 2400 unit.
I know there are a slew of suppliers out there (B&M, TCI, Hughes, Summit, PP, etc).
Any recommendations without breaking the bank for a good Street/Strip unit?
What's everyone else running and how much was it?
How accurate did it "stall" based on the weight and HP level?
Take for example B&M - it's probably a "decent" unit but they really don't give you any "real" good information (STR, Efficiency, weight, bearings, etc) for picking one of their converters. Like: Whats the difference between the TQ Master and their standard unit? - I suspect it's a different STR.
Using the B&M 2400 in my 77 my max hp develops arond 2500 and works fine. Just be careful you dont get one with to much stall as slip=heat and you want it locked up at cruise speed. As far as the different mfgs B7M seems to be a little on the lower priced side as compared to the others. Some people say the others are better,i really have no idea so far the B&M has been fine.
