Finally got around to installing the new weatherstrip kit on my 82, only been sitting in the garage since December.
The problem I am having is the t-tops now are so tight to fasten down it flexes the whole t-top frame. Tried to adjust according to the assy manual and no dice, still tight. Has anybody else had this problem and if so any sugggestions on how to fix this. Worried that it will crack the glass because of the stress on the glass.
I did my '78 and found the same problem. I saturated the weatherstips with WD-40, wiped them down, latched them down and let them sit a week. They are perfect now. New rubber needs a period of time to 'mould' to the frames.

It won't crack the glass but it will pull the galss away from the frame, My passenger side did this, I had to reglue the frame to the glass. Be careful with it.
After I got mine to lock down I let them sit for about 2 weeks and they are fine now.
Thanks for the info guys. Will try the WD40 idea. Was worried that the glass would crack and then I would be SOL. This is my first Vette so it sure is a learning experience, screwed around with cars for years but this is a whole new beast to learn about. Glad I found this forum and the info on here.
