Thanks. I looked around the shop and found a piece of uni-strut. Found three bolts, two washers and bolted the "contraption" to the wheel. Two turns of the center bolt and "presto"...wheel hub came off.
Do you have a picture or drawing for this? I'm going to be taking my steering whell off this weekend and was wondering about buying and/or renting a puller. Something inexpensive that works and is even better!
I didn't take a pic, but here's something similar I found on the Internet:
I used uni-strut (rigid u-shaped metal channel) because I had about 1' laying around. You can also use any piece of flat, stiff steel with three holes drilled in it. Two bolts go into the steering hub and the third bolt "pushes" against the steering wheel shaft. As you tighten the center bolt, it pulls the hub off. I sprayed some PB blaster into the hole before beginning and it took only two turns of the center bolt to release the wheel.
