Got a pleasent surprise today-my free dealer invoice. Was afraid I was
too late again.
All the things listed on the invoice are still on the car. The car has the
holes for the t-top carrier, but it was not on the invoice. Does anyone
know if the carrier was installed at the factory or if they were all
dealer installed?
The only surprise is that the car was sold in Palmyra, NY. Looks like
I'm rehabbing a transplanted Yankee!
I e-mailed my request on 7 Jan-exactly 2 months.
My 1980 roof panel carrier was factory installed. V54 option code. It could also be ordered via the chevy parts counter and then dealer installed. A co-worker of mine liked mine so he ordered the carrier and had the dealer's body shop drill the holes in the rear deck for the carrier. It looked just like mine when done.
Shipped to Westlake Chevrolet, Seattle WA on 8/29/78.
The invoice confirmed my 78 originally had 25th Anniversary Paint (B2Z). When I bought it in 88, it was maroon. The previous owner told me it was originally painted silver anniversary colors, but the trim tag only shows 13 (Silver).
The invoice shows the car was delivered with "radio not desired", and does not list power windows, but power windows are installed in the car. The other "convenience" options included rear defogger, air conditioning, tilt wheel, and cruise.
Both my 80 & 82 had factory installed roof panel carrier.
RPO V54 was a $125 option in '80. About 1 out of 10 cars came from the factory with this option.
My 82 CE had every factory option offered including the top carrier and CB radio which were very rare with only about 1 out of 100 cars having these options. I'm sorry to say I sold the car to a fellow in Indiana back in 1988.
BTW, I no longer own a C3...Just wandered over from the C5 board, but I still have a soft spot in my heart for C3s.
There is another thread started by Peggy that gives the instructions. Unfortunately they are no longer free. As of 3/1 you have to pay $50. I requested one in December and it arrived yesterday. Peggy gets a big
